Fun in the Summer Sun!

Yay for summer! We cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work in making this year the healthiest it could be for you and your students! We wish you the happiest of summers and hope you take time to rest, rejuvenate, and play in the Colorado mountain sun... if it ever decides to come out again!

This final blog includes great stuff for you to explore when you have some time, including fundraising ideas, Summer Bootcamps, climb for a cause, Dance Exploration and an awesome Healthy School Highlight from Kelly Wilbert at Pine Lane.

Healthy School Highlight

Kelly Wilbert, PE Teacher at Pine Lane Elementary School

Yoga Camp 1
This past spring break, 21 students at Pine Lane Elementary participated in a week-long yoga camp titled “(Spring) Break Into Betterment!”  For the first hour each day, these youth yogis learned about the five Wellness Dimensions: Social, Emotional, Physical, Intellectual, and Spiritual (actions and values lining up).  Campers were provided with their own Dimension Diary in which they reflected upon contributors within each dimension and personal choices they currently make that either strengthen or weaken said dimension.  Through facilitated discovery, students set goals to strengthen these dimensions, and in turn, their overall wellness.  The first hour was followed by a challenging and calming yoga class that included quotes and music related to the dimension of the day.  Pine Lane would like to thank the Kaiser Thriving Schools Grant!  Without this funding, all of our “betterment” would not have been possible.
